FAQS
MJ/MONTEER Series (with Battery) Light Fault Detection

Please follow these steps to help determine the problem.

  1. Disconnect the battery from the light and fully charge the battery. Once charged, press the battery's power switch; if the battery indicator light is flashing, the battery is good. Our batteries include a self-protection circuit for the safety of our customers. If a battery receives an external charge, it may passively trigger the self-protection function and power off the battery.
If this is not the problem, continue troubleshooting to determine if the problem is with the connection cable or the light head.
  2. Inspect the connection cable to ensure there is no damage to the cable. Then connect the battery cable to the battery and the light head. Press the battery test button and if the green LEDs flash but the power switch on the light head does not illuminate, the connector cable may be the problem.
  3. If a fully charged battery with normally functioning test LEDs is connected to the light head, but the light head does not have power, the light head is most likely the problem. Wiggle the connector cable at the light head and the battery to see if there is a connector problem, indicating a problem with the connector cable.

It is a good light, the reason for 4 stars is the size and weight of the battery, it is about 2 lb, my bike looks like an electric bike now. Also, be aware that if you are planning to install the light in the handle bar it might not be compatible with a handle bar computer mount

Love the light, it's literally the perfect option for me, battery sits nice and sturdy to the frame using the supplied straps, plenty of power, easily manage a 3hr spin at night switching to full power for downhills and lower setting for the climb, only one thing is they won't sell replacement lights, so if you have an accident and smash the light you need to purchase a whole set again rather than just a single light, thanks my only criticism, the light itself is amazing, 5 stars all day (or night)

This thing is brighter than the sun absolutely awesome!! Only complaint and I’ve only used it once is the mounting under any kind of severe shaking does seem to come loose and the light dips down. I’m not sure how tight to make it. I don’t want to strip the little bolts.

Looking forward to testing this beast out on the trails!

The pros. It’s freaking bright get this one over the 8k. The 12k beam throws it further out and has a wider spread of light. Also the app helps minimize the useless mode imo. In the app I have 50 percent with dual lights on then mode two I have 95 percent on dual modes. These are the only two modes that I use (mtb) low and high mode. 12k is stable than 8k (used to shake a bit going down rough trails) but downside is that the 12k can’t be easily transfer from one bike to another. If you have a single bike that you ride at night then it isn’t an issue. Another plus of 12k is that cable management is better goes from light to battery. 8k light has an additional cable that has to be replaced 1 every year but battery and light has lasted since the 8k model came out (over 2 yrs, used twice a night, over 1.5 hours roughly season and half of night riding. Didn’t charge battery in the off season and still held charge. So yes it does last.)If Magic shine can sell bracket separately I would deal with longer Change over time as I would feel it’s worth it as its more stable. Now if they came out with a quick release bracket that is just as stable that would be awesome.

I have never experienced a light that does such a great job of illuminating the trail ahead on mountain bike rides. Even on the brightest setting (12000 lumens), the battery life of 3 hrs. is plenty for my rides. It is quick to mount and the fact that I can pop it on the Moonshine and Garmin mounts makes it even easier to use on various bikes. All that being said, there are a couple of cons with this light. My first comment (not a con) would be that I would definitely use a helmet mounted light in addition to the 12000S on the bars so that you can get a better view further ahead on winding tech trails. It also helps your depth perception if you have light coming from more than just one point. So, here are the only two things I didn't like about the light. First, if you aren't using it on a moving bike and it's running at the full 12000 lumens, the light head will get VERY hot. Using it as a handheld mega flashlight is not recommended for more than 2 minutes at the highest setting. Lastly, I feel that the plug from the light head into the battery should have been designed to release with a button or lever of some kind. The plug fits so tightly that you have to use a tremendous amount of force to unplug it. In my case, removing the plug several times (5 - 7) must have caused a short inside the plug or the wire going into the plug. Any short will cause the battery to shut down and the light to go out. The only way to get it going again is to plug in a charging cable to reset the battery. Not something you can do if it happens on the trail. You'd definitely be out of luck without a spare light to finish the ride. In a series of emails to Magicshine, I explained all this and they are sending my a new power cable free. Kudos to them for the great support even though I've had the light over a year. Plug design aside, it's a great light and I recommend it to all my mountain biking friends.

This light is an absolute beast! Your night

This light is an absolute beast! Your night rides are now day rides! Definitely not on the lighter side with the battery pack, but if you’re worried about runtime or just wanna make sure that you can see every part of the trail and anything around it this is the light for you!

The engineers at Magicshine have created an ideal flashlight for night sports activities. When you switch to the high beam, the day dawns in front of you. The quality of the materials from which the entire flashlight and battery assembly is made seems to be top notch. The first impression is a Wow. I hope that Magicshine will not disappoint me in the future. So far they are in first place, in the best flashlight category.

What a great and powerful light. I have used the 12000 the past 3 weeks on 6 different night rides. The battery life is insane! 7 hrs at 6000 lumens!!!! It is going to be my go to light for all my solo 24's next year.

Here’s the updated review including your additional points:

The Magic Shine Mounteer 12000 is an impressive bike light with remarkable brightness and range. It lights up the road ahead beautifully, although I feel the lateral illumination could be slightly improved. One standout feature is the city mode, which tilts the beam towards the road, ensuring it doesn’t blind oncoming pedestrians or cyclists—a thoughtful and practical touch.

Before using the Mounteer 12000, I had the Monteer 6500, which I was very happy with. Unfortunately, due to a cable issue, I had to replace the entire system since the light itself isn’t sold separately. One feature I miss from the 6500 is its Garmin mount system, which made attaching and detaching the light incredibly easy. If I decided to go for a daytime ride, I didn’t need to carry the entire light and battery system. The 6500’s mount was secure, and the light never shifted position, even on bumpy terrain.

In contrast, the Mounteer 12000’s mounting system is more cumbersome. Once installed, removing it for a daytime ride is a hassle due to the time it takes to mount and dismount the entire system. It would be ideal to have a system similar to Garmin’s, which keeps the light firmly fixed but allows for quick removal when needed. That said, the Mounteer 12000 does have a small screw that can be adjusted by hand, letting you tilt the beam up or down without the need for tools—a convenient feature.

On the downside, the battery is quite heavy. The mounting system on my bike places it above the frame, and despite tightening it securely, it occasionally shifts sideways. Another issue is the remote control’s Velcro strap, which struggles to attach firmly to the handlebar. When pressing the buttons, the remote often moves up or down, making it tricky to find the ideal position. Additionally, the button functionality can be a bit confusing at first. The included instructions are not very clear, particularly when it comes to setting up the remote’s Velcro mount.

Lastly, the battery life at maximum brightness is under 3 hours, which feels a bit short considering its 10,000 mAh capacity. Some improvements in efficiency would definitely enhance the experience.
