The official Badlands overview often describes the wider challenge as approximately 800 km with around 16,000 meters of climbing, but the final 2026 preview listed the specific route at 817 km and 14,420 meters of elevation gain.

From Sierra Nevada to the Desert

The 2026 route included three major climbs in succession:
Los Pedrolos at roughly kilometer 575,
