Great light

Great light. Easy to pair with remote and Seemee 50. Very bright, even setting 2 is plenty bright enough. I plan to keep the charger in the garage for quick charge after longer rides, so I don’t have to remove the lights from the mount. Max has been great with customer service and answered all of my questions quickly. Magicshine has gained my trust.

The remote function and app are a real gamec hanger. Can customize the light presets and change them while keeping the hands on the handlebar.

Bought this nifty little light on sale. For the money, it is a very good light. The build quality feels solid, buttons are rubberized and seem rugged. The mount is a Garmin style with secure clicks when attached. As Magicshines photos show, the beam is very well controlled with a distinct cutoff. The advantage to this lens focus is the emitted light is bright and usable from a small unit. The extra spot highlights distant objects brightly.

So, is it perfect? Well that depends if you need a very wide beam for off-road riding, this light isnt for you. The main beam is too tight with no stray. However, it is well-designed for road riding where your primary concern lies directly in front of the bike. There is no side visibility, so youll want to use the compatible tail light or other option for side and rear coverage.

The remote is handy, but can slide around a bit depending on your handlebars surface. Its ok because the benefits of easily turning the high beam on/off is quite handy. I can now dim the beam when oncoming cars near and not blind the driver.

I wish it had a bigger battery. On full, it wont last 2 hours. Would be near-perfect if Magicshine doubles the battery. Yes, that will increase weight, but thats not an issue for me. I am a bike tourer and the light isnt much compared to the other loads I carry.

Another minor issue is the handlebar mount. The handlebar end is a huge diameter and required some extra mounting effort as the included rubber bushings arent enough to tighten the mount enough to prevent unintentional movement. The light quickly drooped once attached. I used a cut-up inner tube wrapped around the handlebar a few times to increase handlebar diameter enough for the mount to work. This may or may not be an issue for you depending on your bikes setup, but is worth mentioning.

Overall I cant think of a bike light this small with this much capability. Its quite thrifty with the 1300 lumens, concentrating those photons into a useable-bright pattern. Very impressive!

the light itself is awesome, however the handlebar mount, even with the included adapters, did not fit onto my 22mm dia handlebar. I had to design and 3D print an adapter to make the handlebar clamp fit.

The HORI 1300S bike light promises a powerful and versatile lighting solution for cyclists, boasting a maximum output of 1300 lumens and a high/low beam configuration. With USB-C charging and compatibility with Garmin and GoPro mounts, it seems to tick all the right boxes. After putting it through its paces in both urban and suburban environments, here's my honest take on the HORI 1300S.

One of the standout features of this light is undoubtedly its brightness. The 1300-lumen output is more than enough to illuminate even the darkest paths. The high beam truly shines (pun intended!) on unlit gravel trails, providing excellent visibility and boosting confidence when navigating challenging terrain. Conversely, the low beam is intelligently designed with a sharp cutoff, making it ideal for road cycling. This prevents blinding oncoming traffic while still providing ample illumination of the road ahead. As the photos demonstrate, the light effectively illuminates a significant area, with the cone clearly visible at 50 feet.

Mounting the HORI 1300S is a breeze thanks to its compatibility with both Garmin and GoPro mounts. This versatility allows for easy integration with existing cycling setups on both mountain bikes and road bikes, eliminating the need for proprietary mounting systems. The USB-C charging port is a welcome addition, ensuring fast and convenient charging with readily available cables.

However, the HORI 1300S isn't without its flaws. The biggest letdown is the accompanying app. While the promise of custom light settings is appealing, the actual user experience is far from ideal. I encountered issues creating an account and was limited to guest mode. Even within guest mode, the available customisation options felt basic and underwhelming.

This brings me to my biggest gripe: the lack of diverse flash patterns. In an urban environment like Detroit, or even in the suburbs, visibility is paramount. While the existing flash patterns are functional, they lack the attention-grabbing power of a more dynamic mode. The ability to select a "disco" or sporadic flash pattern, or even a steady pulse mode, would significantly enhance the light's safety features, drawing attention without being disorienting to either the cyclist or other road users. This feels like a missed opportunity, especially considering the light's otherwise impressive performance.

Conclusion:

The HORI 1300S is a powerful and well-designed bike light that delivers on its promise of bright and versatile illumination. The high/low beam configuration is excellent, catering to both road and off-road cycling needs. The mounting options are convenient, and the USB-C charging is a modern touch.

However, the subpar app experience and limited flash pattern options hold it back from achieving its full potential. While the light is perfectly usable as is, the lack of advanced customization options feels like a significant oversight.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Recommendations:

For Magicshine: Invest in improving the app's user experience and expanding the customisation options, particularly regarding flash patterns. Adding a "disco" or steady pulse mode would significantly enhance the light's safety features.

For Potential Buyers: If you're looking for a bright and powerful bike light with a good beam pattern and don't rely heavily on app-based customisation, the HORI 1300S is a solid choice. However, if you prioritise advanced flash patterns and a seamless app experience, you might want to explore other options.

I had a less expensive 800 lumen light that lacked the daytime strobe setting for visibility, so I ordered this one to try it out. It comes with the garmin mount pre-installed to for undermounting, so with my existing setup I was able to take it out of the box and put it right on my bike (after charging). The operation is pretty straightforward, however I would have preferred that they just use a single button to cycle through all the modes. The second button is required to use the daytime mode, and that second button is only available on the remote. Now I have two devices to keep charged and the remote is taking up precious real-estate on my drop bars. They could have easily put the second button on the light to fix this problem. It charged up in about an hour and lasted about 8-10 hours across several rides over a 2 week period. I haven't had to recharge the remote yet, I suspect it will last months between charges. It is plenty bright after dark, though brighter lights are available. I think this light strikes a nice balance of weight, brightness, and battery life. Lots of other adapters and mounting accessories are included in the box along with a USB A to C charging cable (I wish gadget makers would provide C to C cables)

Boy is this an amazing light! It comes with the mount and everything you need to install along with the tools. I already use other Magicshine lights and knew this would be a fantastic light and it even exceeded my expectations. You get a high beam and a low beam great for when you are riding around others and vehicles so you don't blind anyone and if you don't switch to low beams you absolutely will blind people. This thing is a BEAST when it comes to brightness. 1300 lumens isn't a joke. It comes with a handlebar switch that not only controls this front light but also turns on my Magicbright rear red light. The light has a sensor in it so if you forget to turn it off it will go off by itself then then when it feels movement it turns itself back on. The mount gives you multiple way to attach it and a place for your GoPro or action cam. The battery life is fantastic and last forever and charges pretty quick. The mount is super stabile and for the price I can't believe you get this much value! It even connects to an app! If you are looking for a solid light for night riding this is it. You have found it. Do yourself a favor and add it to your cart and checkout now.

It's a pretty decent light. It could use a little more brightness. One thing it could definitely use is more beam spread side to side. I like the fact you can jump back and forth between low and high with the remote, no cycling through modes. The beam on the flood light is somewhat wasted sitting 30 feet in the air at trees. They need to tighten up the beam and lower it. I do like it's compact design. One thing very misleading is it says compatible with Garmin/Wahoo computers making it sound like it could connect to a light network but that doesn't seem to be the case. Also it would be nice if the power cable came out the back so when connecting a battery pack out has a cleaner look.

I have several different bicycle light models and have been using bike lights since they were attached to giant batteries that fit in your bottle cage. It is truly amazing how far the technology has come to see such a powerful light in such a small package.

I cannot attest to the duration of the battery capacity of the light, but for the money and performance this light checks a ton of boxes. I have no doubt it will live up to the time limits stated, I only tried it for 1.5 hrs. which is what my legs could handle. It also charged quickly and uses a standard USBC plug. This is well weather protected as well so confident if there was water, I would not lose a light via intrusion. I also left my light once on the mount driving home and didn't lose it. Garmin mounts work really well for lights. The light also was very resistant to "shakes" on the mountain and was very steady.

I really like the quality of the mounts and array of hardware provided to fit many different styles of bikes. I tried it both mounted on my 35mm mtb bars and my standard road bars and the provided hardware made installation easy and trouble free.

I installed the remote but really didn't get into it. I am sure that will be a nice feature for someone, but I found I turn my light on, and then it pretty much stays on the same setting the whole time. It took me a few tries to cycle through the settings. I can't say that was my favorite feature was the learning curve of finding how to turn on bright modes, locking the light out and the road or low modes where it adjusts the focal feature of the output.

That I have to say was my favorite feature. I like the dual modes and multiple lens adjustments. I ride on a multi-use trail, often at peak times where there is a lot of foot traffic and I like the idea of not blinding people when I approach so they can get out of my way.

The light was also able to adjust to very dark mountainous conditions with ease and throws a nice beam that is easy on the eyes.

I have used Outbound lights, CECO, Cyolite and Night riders among a few of the types of lights and these sit right between the Outbound lights and the Cygolites. I prefer the neutral coloring of this light versus the over whitewashed light of other lights. It was much easier on my eyes, especially on the mountain.

I can recommend this light to friends for the nice performance and package it provides. Time will tell if the light holds up or if the battery lasts, but so far so good. I am pleased.
