The result of this competition is also very interesting as it hosted the official AusCycling 24 Hour Solo National Championships. The overall solo winner and 40-49 Australian 24 Hour Solo National Champion 2022 is Jon Odams from Bonnet Bay in Sydney.
The forty-year-old all-rounder has competed in many mountain bike events, including gravity, gravel and shorter endurance events. More than a decade ago, in 2011, he completed his last 24-hour race. This time he chose to enter the 24h competition again to challenge himself.
He added night riding to his training before the race. During the night portion of the event, Jon was able to create a solid gap with his competitors, finishing the race with 47 laps in 23 hours, 25 minutes and 31 seconds. He said this championship meant a lot to him and he was very focused throughout the game.
I simply wanted to give it all that I could and it worked out. - Jon Odams
Following his victory, Jon commented, “I literally didn’t get off my bike, only to swap between the two bikes in the whole 24 hours. I simply wanted to give it all that I could and it worked out.”
Congratulations to Jon Odams! We’re excited for our continued partnership with Jetblack and this event.
